    Description

I sold the converter in the picture and I will update the picture tomorrow.
This auction is for a new 30hp phase converter panel with a used Baldor idler motor.
I will wire the converter to 220 single phase power to show you it works before we complete the transaction.
Sorry no shipping, you must pick up the converter near downtown Los Angeles.
I accept returns however you must bring the phase converter back to me in the same condition when you picked up the converter .
If you need help installing the converter and you are within 40 miles of 90007 I will charge .
Please note, you will need a 80 amp breaker, fused disconnect and wiring to install this converter, please contact a licensed electrician before you buy any converter.
You may see the converter near USC a little Southwest of Downtown Los Angeles.

The first time I heard about three phase power was when I was looking at a table saw that had a three phase motor. The seller was honest and said “You can’t use the saw unless you have three phase power”. Even though the price was great I didn’t buy it because I didn’t know about phase converters.
Many years later I wanted to buy a lathe with a three phase motor and lucky for me the seller was running it on 220 single phase power in his garage with a rotary phase converter.
If you have a small machine with a small motor a static converter will usually work otherwise you will need a rotary converter that uses a electric motor to induce the third leg of power.
Please keep in mind that a 30hp converter does NOT generate 30hp in power.
This converter can run a 20hp motor at almost full power, a 15hp motor at full power.
Confused, I agree but please check the internet, you will find everyone that builds converter will tell you to buy a converter that is larger than the motor you want to run.
The advantage of buying a converter locally is that if it is too small I can exchange it without the cost of shipping converters back and forth and if you need help I can show up in person if necessary.
