This coin (or token) is a complete mystery to me. It is the same size (16mm) as the 1939-1948 bronze and copper 1 centavo issues, but the obverse bears only a passing resemblance to that same series. This obverse appears to be struck from a crude, possibly hand-engraved die, and does not feature a date. To make matters more confusing, the reverse seems to be a brockage of the obverse. The composition looks to be copper, and the planchet is very thin. Was this coin the result of someone's attempt at producing their own 1 centavo coins? Is it a previously unknown, dateless pattern? Your guess is as good at mine! We do not make any claims as to the grade of this object, please use the photographs provided to judge for yourself.
