Lester Lake Style Magic Guillotine, built from Owen Brothers Plans

Owen Brothers, Magic Guillotine (Lester Lake Style)
I am offering my recently restored magic guillotine, with scimitar blade, to the magic community.
The comedy effect is, that a spectator is brought on stage to witnesses the guillotine dramatically cutting a carrot in half by the scimitar blade.
Then, the guillotine is spun around, showing two gold hasps on the front stock panels.
The spectator is invited to place
their
neck into the stocks and the hasps are secured with wooden dowels.
After lots of jokes, the performer finally pushes the scimitar blade down, seemingly, through the spectator’s neck.
But unlike the carrot, the spectator returns to their seat unharmed.
This prop was originally built by professional craftsmen from the Owen Brothers Plans, which were purchased from Owen Magic Supreme in 1983.
The wood used was solid, rock-maple.
Much of the metal hardware was gold-plated and for that reason, has kept its brilliance!
The custom-designed,
scimitar
blade was chrome-plated and has also stood up very well.
This is a prop for the working professional magician.  For hard “use on the road” and who wants a safe prop that is in exceptionally beautiful shape.
The prop has been kept in its ATA foam-lined flight-case from the beginning, but recently (May 2021) I made the decision to refinish it to a “Newish Condition.”
Completely disassembled, all red areas were sanded down to the primer, reprimed and carefully repainted with the original, “Corvette torch-red” acrylic enamel auto paint.
The black and gold trim remains original.
The custom-fit, protective foam in the ATA case (which supports the heavy blade) was replaced with new foam.
Cotton covers were also just made which adds another level of protection to the finish in the foam case (especially, if stored for exceptionally-long periods of time.)
One of the custom bags can also be used to keep the guillotine covered on stage before its revelation. The photos show the attention to detail to keep the prop in great shape, including the 1" foam layer between the two case halves.
ATA flight case
The rock-maple guillotine weight is 50 LBS.
The flight-case, 28 LBS, for a total of 78 LBS.
I can carry it with the handle on the top of the case, but there are two other handles on the ends if two people are available.
Otherwise, a hand-truck makes moving it very easy.
For adults only
It should be understood that this prop is intended for adult, professional magicians.
Like a power tool, if used properly, it is very safe.
