    Description

Vintage, Owen Magic Supreme, Coin Ladder, Collectible
The Owen Magic Supreme Coin Ladder has always been held in high esteem among professionals.
The effect is that the magician plucks coins (either real or imaginary) out of thin air and drops one coin after another into the coin ladder.
After “dropping” each coin, it is seen and heard, “ringing” down through panes of glass; eventually clinking into a crystal dish at the bottom.
As a finale, the magician produces a seemingly endless number of coins as they are seen showering down through the Coin Ladder.
This Vintage Owen Magic Supreme Coin Ladder has been in my storage for 30 years, but has just been completely restored to an impressive condition.
Though a 100% working prop, it now would be a stunning centerpiece for any vintage magic collector! Completely disassembled, all woodwork was refinished and (like the original) the paint was perfectly matched to new, dark-blue plexiglass, using a state-of-the-art hardened enamel auto paint.
The resultant finish is a stunning, high-gloss, deep violet-blue.
All aluminum was hand polished and buffed.
I do not know the year that the ladder was originally built, but it uses an amazing mechanism that drops silver dollar-sized coins down through the six panels of plate glass, one by one; actuated by the performer’s pantomime of dropping the coins into the top circular opening.
The detailed workmanship of the all-brass mechanism is remarkable; the quality that you would expect of Owen Magic Supreme!
Please note, this mechanism uses an early monofilament design and was made, at a time in history, to drop real silver dollar coins.
Thin palming coins are fine for all other applications but 1 to 20 full, silver dollar-sized coins must be used in the mechanism’s loading-tube.
    82 special coins included
In addition to 70 Owen silver dollar-sized palming coins that are included, with respect to the mechanism itself, I found one-dozen aluminum, silver dollar-sized coins, that work very well in the mechanism because they are exactly the same thickness as real silver dollar coins, but only half the weight.
They are an ideal substitute for very heavy, real silver dollar coins as they are not so aggressive with respect to the glass.
The aluminum coins (like the palming-coins) also have a much more pleasant (almost musical) ring, as they fall to the crystal dish.
    Two modifications
I had fabricated, a plexiglass mirror that one “may” attach to the back of the ladder, giving a nice added “visual” to the coin(s) dropping, as well as two (imperfect) clear plexiglass pieces for the sides, lessening the chance of the final shower of palming coins escaping.
These three panels may or may not be used and did not change the ladder in any appreciable way.
Secondly, two new spring-loaded Owen dollar palming-coin holders were added behind the blue plexiglass, which deliver two handfuls of coins to the performer, allowing them to perform the prolonged “shower-of-coins” finale, where the performer drops dozens of coins into the ladder.
This sale includes 70 brand-new, never-used, Owen Magic palming-coins for this final cascade of coins!
    Glass plates
This ladder still has some of the same glass plates as when I received it years ago, as well as some that have been replaced.
All of the included glass is the same 1/8” double stage,
    annealed
glass that fits the grooves as originally designed, however, replacing it with tempered glass may be a good consideration.
The gold “onion” and round brass finials
When I bought this coin ladder, it was not only in need of refinishing but was missing the original “Owen onion” that sits atop the coin-mechanism feeder-tube.  Therefore, I machined a suitable replacement and went to great lengths to match its gold paint to four new brass finials that are identical to the badly tarnished originals.  (the removed originals will be included with the shipment)
    Custom-sewn cover
To keep curious hands out and dust off of the prop, I had a custom-sewn, zippered, blue satin cover made.
    This is included.
    For adult professionals only
Because “glass” is involved, I recommend that only adult professionals use this prop.
Additionally, I do not guarantee any glass from breakage.
For safety reasons, professionalism is essential.
Buyer agrees to use at their own risk.
    Conclusion
This beautifully restored Vintage Owen Coin Ladder is not only a tribute to Owen’s style and workmanship, but is an exquisite piece of Owen Magic Supreme's history.
I truly believe that it is very well suited for the quality-conscious magic collector.
    Shipping
Not being accustomed to international sales, I would prefer to sell this domestically.
The coin ladder only weighs 10 LBS.
The glass, aluminum base and all small parts will be removed and packaged separately.
All will be suspended in Styrofoam peanuts inside the 18”X18”X34” shipping box.
If you "pick up" or live close by and your shipping is less than 0, I will refund the difference.
Handling Time will most likely be 1-2 days.  10 days is listed as a safeguard against possible blistering heat across the country at the time of sale.
Because of the nature of this item, all sales are final.
Please ask, if you have any questions, before buying or bidding.
I will be happy to help.
    Thank you and good luck!
